Bringing together a unique blend of electro pop and metal, Otto’s Daughter has created an exciting sound that brings together beauty and edginess. Fans have described them as a female fronted band with balls, which is both heavy enough for the metalheads and pop enough for the club going crowd.
Songstress Jacqueline van Bierk mesmerizes crowds with her strong stage persona, delivering her powerful yet sultry vocals, which has won over audiences everywhere. She is a true performer full of aggression, passion and theatrics. Add guitarist Jim Robbins’ edgy guitar sounds into the mix, Otto’s Daughter puts on an energetic, powerful and entertaining live show that has won over fans everywhere.
The band’s origins begin in New York City, where European transplant Jacqueline started the band and planting the seeds into creating her vision. She immediately cut her teeth within the local goth/industrial scene and made her presence felt immediately. She put on in your face performances, which featured theatrics leaving behind a mess of broken baby dolls, roses, blood and glitter. Her shows definitely left a lasting impression and separated herself from the pack.
Shortly after, Jim entered the picture. Coming out of the New York hardcore scene, Jacqueline had found her perfect collaborator, merging both of their styles and creating the perfect balance between dark and light, yet heavy and pop music. His heavy guitar tones brought a new dimension into Otto’s Daughter that added aggression, which was previously missing.
The band currently resides in Los Angeles, and has done several DIY tours across the US and is planning on hitting the road again in spring 2012. While the public has bombarded Otto’s Daughter with a variety of questions about their overall presence, still the two most asked questions on every OD tour have been…”Are those boobs real?” and “What label are you on?”
The last EP, “The Becoming 001”, has had several placements on MTV, VH1, CW Network (Vampire Diaries, Melrose Place, 90210, Gossip Girl promo’s) History Channel and Discovery Channel.
Otto’s Daughter has won various awards for “Best Hollywood Band”, “Best Female Fronted” and “Best Female Performer” at the LA Rockies and was also one of the top 100 best unsigned bands in Music Connection magazine.
The duo is currently in the studio finishing up their new full length titled “Living The Dream” due in early 2012. The first two singles “BeautyFool” and “Prison Walls” have been released online and are available on Itunes.
Outside of the band, Jacqueline also composes music for film and television, where her work has been featured on Oprah, Dr. Oz, Spike TV and many more.
While it has been a bumpy ride, with several line-up changes and many obstacles to overcome, Otto’s Daughter is excited about the new album, a new line-up, ready to hit the road in spring 2012. The first show will be at NAMM playing the Schecter Opening Party at the Juke Joint in Anaheim, CA on Friday, January 20th.
